Lester: I'm anxious about seeing if I'm missing something. I'm anxious that I'm not focusing on things I should be.
Lester's Rationality: What are the things you SHOULD be focusing on?
Lester: Shouldn't I focus more on work material?
Lester's Rationality: Isn't it Sunday? Why do you need any attention for work? You are not expected to work on Sunday.
Lester: Right but if I want to do well at work, shouldn't I be focusing more time in it?
Lester's Rationality: Why do you want to do well at work?
Lester: Promotion. Status.
Lester's Rationality: What will those give you?
Lester: Status. Validation.
Lester's Rationality: How does a promotion give you status and validation?
Lester: People respect higher positions.
Lester's Rationality: How do you know this? Have you disrespected people who are in less positions before?
Lester: In certain times yes.
Lester's Rationality: Is that fair of you?
Lester: No
Lester's Rationality: So how would it be fair for people to respect you only if you have achieved status? Don't you deserve respect regardless?
Lester: I would like that but that's not how the world works. The world values status.
Lester's Rationality: That may be true, but you don't have to value what the world values. You can choose to value what you want. It seems that the world you speak of, places their respect on people with status only. You yourself think that is unfair. Why would you choose to hold a value system that is unfair?
